INDUSTRIE PA is a hybrid Performing Arts school (two strong streams in both competitive and non-competitive dance) based on the eastern shore and the Derwent Valley with 6 well equipped studio’s.

Our studio and staff are friendly, professional and experienced in what we do. Our teaching staff have a combined total of more than 200 years’ experience.

We set ourselves apart by maintaining outstanding service to our loyal and committed dance parents.

CLASSES

NON-COMPETITIVE

RAD AND Ballet exams

  • Ages of 5 through to adult
  • Graded work in the style of classical ballet
  • The teacher will invite the students who are ready and committed to sit their exam annually.
  • Exams are held at IPA studios for graded work and may need to travel to Launceston for Vocational (high school equivalent) every second year for external exams. (This is optional)
  • Ballet is the core of any dancer and most important to your training.

 

BAL Jazz exams

  • Ages of 7 through to adult
  • Graded work in the style of Jazz/Hip Hop/commercial dance
  • The teacher will invite the students who are ready and committed to sit their exam annually.
  • Exams are held at IPA studios and examined by an interstate examiner
  • Jazz exams are extremely beneficial for the serious dancer but at the same time gives the new dancer, fantastic foundations in the style of Jazz, Hip Hop and commercial dance.
  • Highly recommended

 

Beginner Tap

  • Open to any age
  • For the new dancer who shows interest in learning how to tap
  • The teacher may encourage the student to participate in Competitive Tap classes once discussed with the parent.

Tap Boot Camp

  • Open to any age of the experienced tapper
  • Fantastic for the student who wants to clean and improve their tap technique
  • Suitable for the tap dancer with basic foundations of tap knowledge
  • Must at least know the time step and have some experience.
  • Tap is a compulsory part of competitive groups

 

Technique

  • Open to any age
  • Technique is designed to complement RAD ballet classes as a second class to prepare for exams at the same time as training the competition dancer in areas of building core and leg strength, flexibility, aesthetic alignment, technical footwork, cardio/dance fitness and solidarity of movement.
  • Available for the new dancer and the experienced dancer.
  • This class is set a slow- training pace.
  • Most beneficial for ALL competitive students

 

Beginner Hip Hop and 9 & under Hip Hop

  • Open to children under the age of 14
  • Entry level for brand new students to learn the fundamentals of Hip Hop
  • Students may be encouraged to attend competitive Hip Hop classes from this class.
CLASSES

COMPETITIVE

Jazz/Song & Dance/Tap

  • Ages 5-adult
  • Kicking routines from ages 13 & up
  • Fast paced class creating group pieces to represent IPA at local eisteddfods in a competitive environment
  • Students will be required for rehearsals outside their weekly class time
  • There are additional costs involved of costumes (ranging from $120-$200) per costume
  • Optional Eisteddfod specific costs ($100 approx.) e.g.-programme, photos, ticketing
  • The Eisteddfod is held at the Derwent Entertainment Centre in the first week of the school holidays between term two and three
  • Jazz – modern movements – can be dramatic, exciting and or commercially based
  • Song & Dance – divided into two halves – first half is projected by dancers singing and portraying a story. Followed by a dance suited to the song they are portraying
  • Tap – Whole routine is performed with tap shoes on and the style is generally upbeat and fast paced

 

Ballet/Lyrical

  • Fast paced class creating group pieces to represent IPA at local eisteddfods in a competitive environment
  • Students will be required for rehearsals outside their weekly class time
  • There are additional costs involved of costumes (ranging from $120-$200) per costumes
  • Optional Eisteddfod specific costs ($100 approx.) e.g.-programme, photos, ticketing
  • The Eisteddfod is held at the Derwent Entertainment Centre in the first week of the school holidays between term two and three
  • Even though these styles are slower than Jazz, Tap & Song and Dance, it is still a fast paced class in learning the choreography.

All students must do at least Technique and or RAD ballet

 

Hip Hop

  • Fast paced class creating group pieces to represent IPA at local eisteddfods in a competitive environment
  • Students will be required for rehearsals outside their weekly class time
  • There are additional costs involved of costumes (ranging from $120-$200)
  • Optional Eisteddfod specific costs ($100 approx.) e.g.-programme, photos, ticketing
  • The Eisteddfod is held at the Derwent Entertainment Centre in the first week of the school holidays between term two and three
  • Routine performed in the hip hop section is urban modern and upbeat generally

 

Private lessons (applicable only if committed to group class either competitive or non-competitive)

  • The group teacher will approach the parent of the student when they are showing commitment and good work ethic to enter solos at the eisteddfod or pop up competitions

 

Duos and solos – Jazz/Lyrical/Song & Dance/Ballet/Tap/Character/Impromptu Training/Broadway

  • Teacher will advise more detail on the logistics for the following styled solo and duo options as they can vary from teacher to teacher

 

Champion Group

  • A mini production usually including many students from all age groups. This can vary but generally speaking, it is a large group portraying a story line or it can be abstract too.
  • This is rehearsed in a separate class and is offered on alternative years

OTHER CLASSES

Extension Teams

  • Offering extra opportunities to the serious dancer – and/or who is looking to make a career out of dance and performance.
  • A regular class every week including technique, choreography, performance opportunities
  • External industry professional guest teachers will train students in extension to add to their versatility
  • Extension teams will also be offered opportunities with Tasmanian Talent Agency for paid work

 

Dancefit

  • A fitness dance class tailored for the Adult who would like to enjoy the art of dance but at the same time, get a great workout.

 

Kinder Ballet

  • A great introduction for toddler ballerinas to learn the foundations of Ballet – focussing on encouraging timing, imagery, coordination and a general love for Ballet.

 

Dance For Tots

  • A fun, upbeat kinder aged class centred around play based learning, whilst working on musicality and coordination.
